car running sluggish, plz help!!

i went to start my car the other day and it wouldnt start right away. When it did start my gas light was on and the needle wasnt working..(i had a full tank of gas tho) but it finally started working again. The car has been running a bit sluggish like when i get on it or step on the gas. But after ive been driving a while it runs fine. Any idea what it could be? My mechanic said it prob isnt the fuel filter or pump cause of the newness of the car(01). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

hm....

why seems like nowadays more people need fuel injector cleaner...

u should go ahead try Chevron Techron fuel SYSTEM cleaner...

dunk it into ur tank when it's empty..

anyway, i heard people who got same experience like you....they used "Heet" anti-freeze thingie....it was working for them...

or a oil change?

i believe you should try fuel additive...try chevron techron while ur tank's empty

replace sparkplugs....

fuel filter might actually be the problem.......but i doubt it....

check ur oil dipstick...

check ur tire pressure.....if ur stock, set to 30 psi

anywa. 01 civic got more problems compared to the other newer one... and older one...
cause it's the first 7th gen....i head that there are more percentage of errors on 01....

they fixed error every next year.....

you can say that 01 civic got more errors compared to '00 civic (6th gen)

actually, its recommended to have the fuel filter replaced every 30-40,000 miles.

as for the tire pressure i have 18's and i believe its at the right psi and the oil has been changed. I'll try the spark plugs and fuel cleaner first and see what happens. anyone know the best kind of spark plugs to get? thanks for everyones input

Well just having the 18s will decrease acceleration alot. Try to lose some extra weight like spare tire. Also do all the usual maintenance like oil, tranny fluid, air filter, plugs, etc. I have NGK Iridium IX plugs and they're awesome. Not as expensive as other iridiums. Go to sparkplugs.com and look some up. Good luck!
