I dont think it cause of the actuall oil since that weight is what supposed to go in there it even says in your owners manual maybe you didnt fill it up have you checked the oil since you did the oil change .

Don't start changin your oil around. If you have been using 5w-20 for a while now, you run the risk of crackin your piston heads.... And above all... DO NOT SWITCH BACK AND FORTH FROM SYNTHETIC TO REGULAR OIL..... 5W-20 is a real good grade oil, so I don't really think that this is the source of your problems.... But best of luck to you in anything you decide to do....

they only problem you end up with switching from conv to synthetic is when you do it on high mileage motors. the cleaning properties of the syntheitc oil actually clean up the deposits so good, you can start leaking oil. even though the synthetic oil manufacturers deny this, i know of a few ppl who this has happened to. other than that, no biggie. i agree w/ stpryo8, either commit to synthetic or stick w/ conventional. who or where did you get your oil changed?

happy it worked out for you. trust me on this one overfilling oil is not a good practice. some ppl have known to do this and it really hurts the motor. next time you go and get your oil changed, asked the tech and they will tell you how bad it is. i know it might sound like

5W-20's what you're supposed to use. Unless you were using crude oil, I really don't know how changing oil could result in an engine running that differently. It's more about providing adequate protection. However, I do have friends that claim their cars run way better after oil changes. Of course they run the same, it's just a mental thing.

just one question, usually I buy 4 quarts of oil, do most of you, like me, pour all 3 bottles in, and then pour in about 3/4 of the fourth bottle?

and point it up. i just change my oil the other day, walmart carries a 5 quart bottle for 19.72
well u cant check ur oil level while the front end is jacked up. i always change my oil at night so i let it drain overnight to get all that old oil out. then in the morning i put in 4 qts of castrol 5w-20 and a walmart oil filter. looks like in about a month ill have to change my oil agaain
oh yea i also have that FRAM suredrain thing. on a scale from 1-10 as far as worth the money, id give it a 7. due to the plug design all the oil does not drain out. leaves about 1 cup behind. although it is usefull because the tube prevents the oil from spilling hot oil onto your hands, arms, and garage floor. i use an empty milk or water gallon container to hold the used oil. then when the oil stops draining, i take out the oil plug and drain the remaining oil into a container.

i never really have a problem with the oil getting on my hands. i use a regular latex glove, and oil touching my hand is minimal. even though it is hot, it doesnt burn through the glove. i have a problem w/ the filter though, even though nothing spills on the floor i dont like using the plastic bag. anybody know of a better way to get the oil from the filter??
^^ yea i like the suredrain because i can aim the oil into a container instead of a pan. i dont have one of thoes oil drain catch things with the spout on the side. i also heard that repeated skin exposure to engine oil can lead to cancer....
