clicking???

aight whenever i am in 2nd gear and i make a right hand turn i get a slight clicking noise from the front right wheel well? if i make the turn in 1st no prb....3rd.....no prob.....just 2nd. Any idea what this could be?

mods i have done to the front include a sri (aem), and a neuspeed strut bar.

Any help would be appreciated.

it appears taht i am not the only one that is having this problem....i searched using some different terms than what i have been using and found some other people having the same problem....infact there was this post

"Hey guys,.... try this, if when you turn right your 2nd gear is still engaged and the noise appears, it's a fact, your planetary gear is shot. Many people might confuse this noise with the similar cv joint noise. Try to turn right when your in neutral( no gears engaged ) if the noise isn't there then hav honda check your transmission for a possible wear in your right planetary gear.

GOOD LUCK."

now my question is, is this piece a warrenty covered piece? and should i remove any after market parts b4 i go in?

I had trouble like that b4, but i was getting it in 1st and 2nd gear, and during right hand turns, it turns out some of the slpines on my axle where it goes into the tranny, were screwed up, Honda dealer replaced the axle for me, and it stopped. I take it I was laying too much tire and screwed something up.

to be honest here...I don't know, are you taking this stuff off so you can get it serviced under warranty? When I took mine in it was still mostly stock anyway

I'm just taking a shot in the dark here, but it could be your brakes clicking. Some people have had similar issues with the noise you described.

i think what, rookie meant was on some of our cars, sometimes the brake pads end up being a little loose, due to clips or something, so when you would be making a bend of what not and use the brake it might, rattle or click. or if u were in second and used your brake and went to accelerate it might click then. We are just trying to give some ideas here, it could be the problem with your planetary gear like what you were talking about. I hope you are able to figure it out.

I know with my 01 civic the clicking was the axle, and annoying as hell.
if you take it in and find out whats really wrong with it, let us know.

Yeah if it's your breaks then it's just the front calipers and the clicking noise is normal. . I changed my pads in the front and they don't make that clicking noise anymore and I really miss it.

i hope it is only the brakes....quick fix.....the car is stock now with the exception of the short-shifter. I tell yah taking the parts off is easier than installing them. I am going to paint my interior this wekeend and then i will take the short shifter out. If anyone has any other stories or ideas....please feel free to share

Should i take the short shifter off?

its funny that someone made a thread about the noise because for the longest time I would have that clicking noise and I thought it was my axle or somehting with the suspension but when I replaced my pads about 2 months ago I havent really heard it so....................hmm good deal.

i believe there is tsb for this issue: clicking noise in second gear. honda rep once mentioned it and I think I also saw it on nhtsa's website.

its mostly not gonna be your brakes. the brake pads usually click when you go backwards then your car moves forward and you apply the brakes. i definately think its his planetary gear.

Da1lyDr1ver is most likely right. I remember reading about that in a thread last year. While it could be the brakes clicking, I remember someone else saying it was the planetary gear.
