popping sound at high revs

ok just recently if i shift above 5 grand in first and i hear a pop/cracking sound, it never did this also i shift from 5th to 3rd at appropriate speed i here it. i hope its the clutch and not the tranny, anyone else had this prob?

thanx but check this out i had to change my air fileter today and i saw my intake was loose so i tighten it and it didn't do it, then later it did it again then stopped. i puzzled on this one

maybe it is something around the intake? since you fondled around the intake area and it stopped... check around for loose parts or whatnot.

I might be way off here... but a while back some people were talking about having a popping sound when they shifter, and it actually ended up being the filter on their intakes. Also make sure that the piping isn't all the way inside the filter.

Worth it to at least check it out if anything

any exhaust work done?
you might have a leak in your exhaust, loss of back pressure, causing a rumble or "pop." check exhaust flanges.

do you have a strut bar??? I had one that almost was hitting the intake but didnt, and every time i would hit high rpms, it would hit up against there. Your intake does move, so check that.
