question with gauges?????????
Hey i have a question....a long time ago i changed my diy dash lights to blue.....everything came out fine....no needles sticking or jumping....but then a month later....i put a tachometer in....and i crossed the dimmer wire from the radio harness and a ground.....and i accidentally turned the car on....so i blew my interior light fuse....i put anoter one in and everything works fine except my cluster.....everytime i put my key in the needles jump for a sec or two....plus my trip meter resets everytime i take the key out......i think there is a short somewhere....but i need some help.....with what might be wrong.....any ideas would be appreciated....also my speedometer and gas/temp work still work......also when i shut the car off the the gas/temp dont drop down...they just stick...but when i put the key in.....it adjusts to the settings.....im hoping it's just a short and that the cluster is not broken.....if it is....also my mileage is still working like normal too ......

This is just something I've heard, but someone said the cluster is NOT protected by fuses. So you may have fried the motherboard in it. Check all of the fuses, otherwise it's time for another cluster.
i got a question..i have an 01 civic and i replaced my gauges with aftermarkets as well...but they are staring to stick and it looks as if it is fried...soi was wondering if anyone knows ...will an 02 cluster fir in my car? is the wiring harness the same and so forth? its alot easier then the change your lights to blue by replacing the bulbs..lol thanks

Dude, the dimmer wire is tied directly to the gauge lights. If you unplug the two green and blue plugs from the cluster and turn your dash lights on while the accessory power is on, the radio backlight should also light up (even if the deck is off). You can try and test this way.
I'm worried that since there's no fuse between the dimmer wire from your deck and the gauge cluster, the cluster got fried. Don't know what else it could be. Just check fuses and connections to make sure.
