question about our gauges.
is it possible to get rid of the orange light the lights up the numbers on the speedomenter and rpm's and just leave the light that lights up the needles?.

The five backlight bulbs light up both the numbers and the needles. There are light guides that direct bulb light from its source to the needle holes. I guess you could put black paper behind the gauge numbers to block the light, but why?
An easier way than even having to open up the cluster would be to get some kind of aftermarket gauges and just not install the wiring for it. So then only the needles will light up, and the odometer.
