Rep Power: 0 Powder coating Question
Does anyone know about how much it would cost to powder coat a set of rims? They are white and I want them to be silver or gunmetal.

Rep Power: 0 it depends where you go. i got mine done bronze for 50/a rim plus extra 75 for extra clear coat... but BECAREFUL where you go to get your tires mounted and rebalanced because these asses in discount tires already chipped the sides >=l

Anyways, I had mine done Anthracite for $35 a wheel.
You need to find a place that does metal refinshing to get it done. Also make sure they blast and acid dip the wheel before they coat them.
And like he said... it is wise to find someplace that has touchless tire mounting afterwards.

Rep Power: 400 Oh yeah... and don't call a place and tell them you want silver. There's probably 450000 colors and gloss levels of powdercoat. Just call and find out if you can go through the book and pick one out. Of course the larger the shop you go to, the more likely they'll have it and not have to charge you a special order fee. The most important thing though is the gloss level. There's 65%, 85% and 105%
65 is basically flat, 85% is kind of shiny in the sun, and 105% is like a Harley Davidson shine... almost looks wet.
These are 85% and came out darker than I thought. I would suggest going 1 shade lighter than what you think looks good in the book... cuz the black tire will make it seem darker, as will the lighting outside vs. artificial lighting.

it needed the extra clearcoat because the gloss level on the chart was 60% the gloss level he recomended was 95% because my car is in the sun 24/7. i just got mine blasted... they didn't do a acid dip. its cool because if something happens i could just bring it back and they could redue it for free... ill ask about the acid dip

Rep Power: 0 oooooooo SH*T!! This guy with a 6th gen Hx has some 2001-02 Ex Hubs powder coated gold a red "H" in the middle. It looks sweet as hell. I asked him how much for mine and he said "just buy the spray paint." That is f*ckin crazy huh?!? Should I get mine gold like his or black with a red "H"??
