how bad is this? intake question
alright so i've had my k&n fipk installed for about a year now with no problems. when i installed it, the small tube that extended from the plastic tubing of the intake (right above the throttle body) over to the top of the engine block was way too long, so i shortened it to fit. not a problem. after i got a strut bar (bomz), i had to push the intake back a bit, but i got both to fit fine. however today when i opened the hood, i saw that the small tube had become disconnected. i know it hasn't been more than a month like this, but still i was wondering what harm i may have caused. i'm honestly not sure what the purpose of that tube really is, i just hope nothing really bad has happened.

just dumped some dirty oil that was suppose to recycle back into the throttle body...
polluted the eart a little bit (actually maybe a bit more than a little bit but er. yeah.)
no big deal though...
although er.. depending on where its disconnected.. u may have had air coming in from that side.. UNFILTERED air..
hopefully it wans't that long and it wasn't long enough for all these dirt to go into ur engine bay...
take off ur intake and examine the throttle body area. see if there's any excessive dirt buildup... although I doubt it...

its not that big of a deal and if you continue having this problem go to the auto parts store and get some breathers there little filters that go on the engine part of where that tube reaches and the intake, technically you dont need to put one on the engine but its bad for the environment but they only cost about 10 bucks a piece and it looks really neat haha
