Rep Power: 0 Fixed the play in my revo SS
Not sure if anyone else has any side to side play in thier revo SS but it was bugging me to no end. So last night I took it apart and figured out why. See that gap? I had to push my shifter that far before the ap was taken up. I busted out my trusty set of files and filed down the stop for the spring. There is no more gap, so there is no more play. Hopefully no one else experienced this problem. But if so I hope this helps.

Rep Power: 344 beside that part, there's another part that can use some more work.. the joint down below...
the stock spring is also stronger... but its not easy to swap into.

Rep Power: 0 Well the actual part that I filed down is below that pic. There is a stop about an inch lower. I couldn't get a good picture of it but figured people would see it when they pulled the shifter out. It didn't fix the problem 100% but about 95%.

Rep Power: 0 Yeah, I have that same problem, but it's like a 35 minute job to get my shift *** back on properly so... Untill I wanna swap it out, I'm just gonna forget about it. I have a collar with a set screw below my shift ***, this is what holds my boot up, unfortinutly it's almost impossible to get right and takes forever to tighten down.

Rep Power: 0 I have both Grey'ss and Capyoda's Kit. Capyoda's is good if you shift hard. I don't shift that hard so I don't nitice a differnce. Grey's kit helped the frant to back play but not the side to side. Considering the price they offer thier kits for though..I would recomend ordering them. (not to mention your helping members who usually give helpfull info).
On another note..Cap and Grey...how about an upgrade for the seat bushings so I don't have to take my car into the shop every 2 months to get them replaced

The piece is supposed to move. thats why there is play. The problem is that there is a gap between when the stick moves and the spring moves and provides resistance. I thought about sticking something in the gap but it was easier to file down the stop. Also I didn't want whatever I placed in the gap to come out. Sorry I didn't get better pics of the place I filed down. But if you take it apart you'll see exactly where I am talking about. It's directly under the gap about an inch down. by filing down you allow the spring to touch the plastic at it's start. Hope I helped more than confused
Also as Cap explained..if you want to take the time to replace the spring...it would help tremendously. It would also give the shifter a nice tighter feel.

Rep Power: 0 I guess you could. I took it all the way off cause I wasn't sure what was causing it at first. Of course you could just live with the play...I mean it's not THAT bad. I wanted to find a way to reinforce the plastic where the spring meets it...I thing it has worn away with use. I was thinking of cutting and super glueing a rubber band piece in there. or even cutting a small washer in half and mounting it.

Rep Power: 395 Hmm... I kinda understand why there's side-to-side play now. My SS Upgrade Kit does take care of some of the side-to-side play though. I might include something to take care of all of the play in the SS. Stay tuned...
As for the seat bushings... This is an EX problem I think, right? It has to do with the seat height adjustment. I don't have an EX, so I can't tinker with it.

I keep asking for the old bushing when I get mine replaced but they always "forget" I keep waiting for them to tell me " dude...the car is designed for 150 pound asian guys"
Also a quick word of advice..if you take your shifter apart to do this...regrease everything. I noticed a huge improvement. I guess the grease dries up.

Crisco works the best. But olive oil is less fattening for you car. Less wieght = faster.
Just playin. Regular grease you get from autozone. I use the white grease. Better grease would last longer. Mine lasted a year before I regreased. I only used a tiny bit last time...this time I applied a good amount. Should be a long time till I need to regrease.

Rep Power: 335 HAVE no fear pheaton is here!!! Ok guys. . here is a pic that will help you see it a little bit better. Instructions are as follows:
Before you begin, examine the assembly. Use the other posted pics to identify the area that we are talking about. I circled the area that needs a slight trim to get rid of any play. .
1. Pull the spring end toward you to pull it out of the slot and push the spring end to the right out of the way, so it's on the outside of it's resting spot circled in red.. (like shown in the picture). It should stay there by it self. .
If you have to, pull the shifting bar to the left, in the neutral position. This will make it easier to grab hold of the spring to move it out of the way.
2. Now, have at the lower slot. I used some needle nose plyers to grab hold of little chunks of plastic to tear it away and finished by sanding/smoothing it down with the fingernail file on a pair of nail clippers. Don't tear off more plastic than you need for the spring to lay flat and do your best to preserve the shape of the slot.
HOPE THIS HELPS!!

Rep Power: 335 Very little has to be filed away. I just used some needle nose pliers and grabbed little peices of it. Just check it after you remove a little bit and keep doing that until you have it where you want it. But it's not much at all.
and fuledya. . I just moved the sping to the side so that it was out of the way, so that I could shave off some plastic. .
