Painting Altezza's

Anyone ever paint the chrome parts of Altezza tails? I'm thinking about painting them EBP to match the car....

Wondering if the chrome has to be stripped away and if so, what's the best way to do it.

Yes, this has been done, i forget the name of the guy who did it however. I was going to do this to mine also. I remember that he soak the tailights in a bath tub with hot water to losen the glue around the edges, it shouldn't be too hard because APC seals suck. Then i think you have to tape up the taillight lenses and then use a 500-600 grit sandpaper to allow the paint to stick, i dont think the chrome has to be completely worn off but you should probably do it anyway. When i figure out the guy who did it ill let you know

Ryder (the bright green car) did it. He had "3D tails" before APC actually made them. He pulled the cover off, sealed the circle lenses and painted the housing green to match the car.... then left the clear cover off. Looked about as good as you can make altezzas look. I would assume you'd do it in a similar manner to DIY black headlights. get the lens unsealed, then mask off the actual light lenses, get the chrome crap off so you paint bare plastic and do it whatever color you want. I'm sure a body shop could mask and color match the housings if you got them all taken apart for them.

HondaNation is on a distinguished road
well guys i already did this DIY and let me tell you its not easy at all! at first i just wanted the cover off but since Eurolite uses glue not silicone it was really hard to get off but then i broke it so i left them as 3D's but word of advice when ever u take off the lenses meaning the red reflectors use water resistant silicone on the edges when u put them back on and spray a lite coat of clear on them to keep them from wearing out.......ask for more help

Fraga has his painted black to match his car and they look real nice!! There have been threads about this, but not too many. I'm gonna do mine EBP as soon as I can find out how to get a can to match my car. But basically, you gotta remove the lenses, sand down the chrome just a little bit to make the paint stick, mask off the bulbs, put about 2 coats of primer on and then paint (2-3 coats). And then let them dry overnight, reseal and go! Shouldn't be hard after finding the paint to match. Anyone got ideas on that????

Hot water??? Damn, are you sure they don't f. up?
What if you just stick it in the oven, like you do with the headlights? I think that's better.

I'm not sure the material in the Altezza's could take the oven like the OEM headlights. Once I get them out of the car again it'll be easier to decide I guess.
