trunk remote?

i searched so lets get that out of the way..

i was wondering if there was anyway to use the new accord keyless entry keychains that way we could have the trunk popper on it as well, since all i have it the stock keyless entry the only buttons i have it the lock, unlock and panic...............just wondering b/c if not whats the point in using the trunk popper if you cant have it on your keychain, i can pull the damn lever just as well has pushing a button.......

the trunk popper you can get it here (2001 accord trunk opener)... and if you want to use accord OEM remote, probably you need to go to honda to re-program it ....... and i don't know how much and not sure if it works

i use an after market alarm and it has a trunk release feature, so i just use it

i dont think the civic alarm has an auxilary output that can work with the accord remote..im pretty sure youd have to swap the alarm module if you plan to do that.

I have the Accord thing installed and everything is wired up the the relay switching neg to positive. But, I have a Viper 100ESP, I know that this alarm remote has the option of a trunk opener, but where do I get the relay that will hook into the unit (the 100ESP), cause once I get that I should be set and it should work.

what are you talking about? there is a negative output wire for trunk release and its usually red/white wire on the primary harness. it outputs negative pulse when option is selected. you are hooking this up to the negative side of the relay coil. then your positive side and the output wire should be at positive..leaving you with one wire that will send +12v pulse to the trunk latch. the latch is grounded at the trunk..them tada! trunk is released.

What I'm saying is that that red/white wire for the trunk opener option is not there (hooked up to the 100esp). I will check again to see if there is a wire that is not being used, but I saw a diagram of the keyless entry and what wires are for what on the viper site and from what I can see the wire isnt hooked up to mine.

i'm not really sure about what you are looking at (a link would be helpful) but usually with keyless entry units there are wires labeled "second channel" or "third channel" normally associated with extra functions such as a trunk opener...so that would be what you want

If you go to directed.com, it has a link to their Viper keyless entry part and then installation manuals, I was looking at the install manual, are you saying that the wire should be hooked up to the unit, just not being used?

ok i'm looking at the instructions...so...you have a remote with two buttons...i guess if you press them both at the same time it activates the 3rd channel..lemme read up a little more and i'll probably find a solution for ya

edit:

ok it says here that theres a white/blue wire on the main harness that outputs a negative pulse when u press both of your remote buttons simultaneously...

so to hook that up to your relay you'll need to connect one end of the coil to +12v and the other end of the coil to the white blue wire...then on 30 and 87 connect +12v and the wire from your trunk popper...

edit #2:
this is just for the viper unit the guy above me has not the stock keyless entry unit...dont want any confusion

oh just thought of something that you stock keyless entry people can do....you can probably disable the panic feature and make it the trunk popper button...just have to find the right wire

it would work, but it could fry the trunk pop solenoid cuz it will output constant until you turn panic off from the remote..well..actually since its pulsed not latched...it would make the solenoid pop over and over again

First off, thanks for the help, but my problems are two, which wires should I hook up to tap in for powering the opener, and two the most pressing issue, there are only 3 wires hooked up to the back of the viper keyless entry unit, so the wire that is for channel two is not hooked up, and I dont know what type of connector it is (if it is even possible to buy a connector like the ones that hook up to the back. I think the place that did my keyless entry screwed me over by not giving me all the extra wires.

Thanks man, I would appreciate that a lot, I spent 150 on the keyless entry+install (which I think now is a rip cause I probably could have done it myself) plus I spent 30 on the trunk popper thinking it would work. Thanks again.

where did you have it installed? i work for circuit city and we do dei rattler 100 for $110 installed, trunk pop is $30 plus relay. lifetime warranty on the installation. and despite what alot of people on this forum say, circuit city is a great place to have your things installed. unlike other popular places such as best buy..we solder all our connections. its even better when you go to a reputable shop tho, where they wont pull the pins out of the harnesses.

I had it installed in some small shop in Milwaukee, I was in a rush to get the keyless installed so I went there and wasted more money than I should have.
