Head Porting for beginers
OK so not all of us grew up in a garage and some are still trying to learn. I understand that someo f you may think I am idiotic for asking this but I can understand because I think the same when someone doesnt understand biochem. So can someone post a beginers engine head porting ie what it is how to do it etc etc... Just the basics of how it works what it means to be naturally aspirated and so forth would be really helpful.

Porting a head isn't really a DIY... it requires extensive skill and some fancy instruments to make sure its done right. The internet has some good explainations of what it is and how it is done, but its not something to do yourself.
Save yourself a very expensive head and dont touch it it will destroy it if you dont have the right tools find someone who does and maybe have them give you a rundown on how they do it so maybe you can still learn something from it.

Depends on what you are trying to achieve. Back in 1985 I had a Chevy Nova with a 396, I bought new cast heads for the engine and used a deburring type drill (like a dremel) to remove all the casting burrs and rough edges in and around the intake and exhaust ports. I guess thats more defind as polishing not boring, but it worked well and that same engine is still running strong. I guess this doesn't answer your question but it does bring back good memories.

Well I certainly am not looking to do it as DIY I was more curious just to simply learn what it is and why it works how it works etc... $hit like that just for the sake of learning
blkcivic is right there is an abundance of information youll probebly find more on classic america muscle and what they did to those head but its the same thing, it hard to explain all the high points of a port and poslish
