What color is yours? It's not red? Well, I remember awhile back, some people posted that people sell these strips of light that you can glue or attatch to your needle which would change it color to blue or something. Try to look for it on Ebay.

How bout just changing the cluster's backlight from white (for sedan...) to blue? Do I just somehow disconnect the white light and put in some nice blue LEDs?

I don't think that will work, since the needles have a red film or glass in them that cannot be taken out. I tried many different colored and powered lights (even a big heavy duty mag light) directly behind the needle and always red (dim to really bright).

About those light strips on eBay, does anyone know if it's EL tape?

there is a website out there that sells custom needles for gauges that glow in different colors, like blue, red, green, etc... I will get back to you when I find that website name, when I saw it, they were pimp looking.

you can clear your needles by doing what someone on this site mentioned years ago, take a piece of cloth, put on it like paint thinner or some sort of oil? and you rub the cloth behind the needle until the color fades away and that was supposed to clear em, but I never heard if ti works or not, so you could try doing that and see what happens /shrug

I tried that, sort of works, but not quite. You do get rid of the red color, but light distribution sucks, since half the needle is bright and the other is dim. The white coating on the back of the needles helps to ensure even lighting throughout the needle when the light source is from the bottom/back-end of the needle (or where it connects to the gauge cluster). Lucky for me I was able to get extra needles from the junkyard, since you can't by them separate from Honda.

it says that it's only available in the hyper red kit for 01+ civic. why would we want to get a kit that just brightens the red instead of giving it a different color? just my .02

Hrm. . I'd be interested in seeing some pics if anyone has them.. Wonder how it would work to find a car with cool looking needles and try to swap them out. Oh, and the hyper red I think would look better than what we have, not much, but I think even with blue gauges the red would look coo. .
