Electric turbo

Ok, I have not been in the car performance arena for a minute, so I am not up to speed with performance parts...I just logged on and I was looking at the Ebay stuff and saw an Electric turbo.....it looked like an electric blower with a filter connected to an intake tube promising gains of 10 to 15%...for $120.00. Has anyone seen that ,uh,um,ur, high tech peice of go fast goodness??????
here it is-> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2550322710

it takes more than a plastic fan to boost your car. Needless to say, those auctions are SCAMS.

It's too bad many people arefooled and misinformed about these things. That's a big loss of money.

oh no doubt, there are people who buy those things. And thus more people try to sell those things looking for a profit.

Just remember, there's no cheap way in making your car faster. $150 can buy parts that will make a radio controlled car fast, but not a Civic.

Now I understand that it's plastic, but when compared to a turbo kit with no fuel controller and set at ONE PSI of boost it does the same thing. You would get some major gains from one psi of boost.

Check this one out

It says that it pushes about 1 psi. DAMN!!!!

IN CASE SOMEONE NOW WANTS TO BUY ONE OF THESE KITS, I WAS BEING SARCASTIC!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR A REAL TURBO KIT. THIS $100 WOULD GET YOU 1/29TH OF THE WAY TO A SF TURBO KIT!!!!

heh, heh, heh!! I thought you mean "electric turbo", where an electric motor spools the turbo, so there is no lag. I know garrett was experimenting w/ this..

Hey...in theory the fan would work. If you could provide enough juice to spin a fan fast enough to force the air into the engine. The problem is you would need soooo much juice that you would rob your engine of power with the extra alternators you would need. These setups would probably restrict flow if anything...but hey...you would get a tornado effect like the other scam on TV :-)

I am intrigued by the electric turbo that garret is experiemnting with...I'm going to do some research into that.

I'm sure it wouldn't take that much extra power. I mean I don't think it would need like 200 amps. But a fan that can spin 100,000 RPM like a real turbo doesn't exist. If one were to get one made it would probably cost more than the turbo kit anyway, so lets just toss this idea.
