how to make fiberglass
i am looking to make part of my interior fiberglass and need some help. does anyone know of any webpages that have detailed DIY's on making fiberglass molds and fiberglass parts? any webpages that deal specifically with cars, would be greatly appreciated. is making fiberglass parts hard, any suggestions on making it?

no, but seriously. fiberglass isnt made. fiberglass is a material you buy in different forms. Y ou then get the glass and put resin on it to make it hard.

Rep Power: 512 it has to be made somewhere. it just doesnt appear in the shape you want it. how do you make fiberglass parts? what is the process to make a mold then make a fiberglass part?

Rep Power: 0 if you want the look of fiberglass without the pain heres what to do. take out the piece you want done, sand out the texture, use filler primer and a lot of it to fill in uneven surfaces, keep sanding, using filler and sanding some more. when you start getting the texture out, start wet sanding it with 800 or greater sand paper. i just got done helping a budy of mine do that process on his sunfire. the interior is painted black and orange and is so smooth it looks and feels like it was made of fiberglass. i can probably get some pics of it tomorrow if you wanna see what it looks like.

Rep Power: 0 you should check out the audio forum. me and whiterabbit have both posted a nice amount of diy's, help, instruction, tips, and just plain rambling about fiberglass. also, if you have specific questions about building a specific part, post it in the audio forum and between the few of us we will be able to figure it out
