Question Needle removal..

Ok, I am working on a project for my car, and I was wondering...Can the Temp and Fuel needles just pop off? And if they do what is underneath them? Is it like a rod of some sort that the needle is attached too? Or would the face be pretty much flush with itself after the needles are removed.

If you dont have to remove the needles, then dont! There are plenty of horror stories on this board, and all over the internet of people removing needles and the gauges never working again like they use to. Some people get lucky, and have removed them, and everything works out, but i would try and find a way around it.

I should clarify....Actually I need the needles to come off and stay off....Going to de-activate those guages and need to make it so that the 2 guages are flush so I can cover them. Still working on the project, but I am not going to need those guages anymore. Just trying to find out if the faces will be flush when I take the needles off. So do they just pop off or what?

Actually I am going to build s circuit and me and an engineer from work are going to build code that will let me digitize the guages onto a TFT display that will be mounted. If all goes well we are going to build an entire cluster assembly cuz we have many resources to use. The goal is to make a truley "Ghost" type display for the whole cluster.

Thanks, should be quite an adventure...Going to start the code on Monday. Who knows...If it goes well, we may market the idea. I bet a few people would like to have a digital cluster eh? It will look good too...Believe me, I am all about quality.

Lightbulb Design..

I am actually working on the design as I sit here in front of the computer. Still need some tech specs tho.....Prolly going to call the dealer and see if one of the techs can point me in the right direction.
