Arrow Smoke rising from newly installed header?

I have my header all installed with the gasket now with only one flange bolt to the downpipe now. The other is on order from Honda. There is smoke that is rising from the header like after I got my exhaust done. Is thisnormal for a new header?

Yukonart will become famous soon enough
I would think yes. . . like a new exhaust system, the header's metal finish inside is probably just reacting to the heat that it's never been subjected to until now. It should pass, very shortly.

I figured the same thing but, this was my first header install. Aside from snapping a flange bolt it went good.

Well maybe also since you only have the one bolt on there so far, the seal might not be so tight right now. Some of the exhaust gases might be leaking out there right now

I've heard new exhaust systems do that for a bit, too. They've got to burn up some film that's on the metal... or something like that.

when i got my headers/exhaust installed, i didnt notice any smoking at or around the engine bay.... but it does leave a rotten egg type smell that comes out of the exhaust with a new one.
