Intake

I picked up a Redline Intake (generic) today and took a look at the AEM DIY and the parts i got in my kit arent exactly the same. Anyways my question is the brackets in the AEM kit...i dont have anything that look like them...i've got a small flat piece about 2" long with a 90 bend and another inch of metal....its gotta hole at the long end for a nut. I assume this is a mounting bracket since my piping does not have one already on. The second one is a long flat piece about 5or6 inches long and with 2 holes at one end and a single hole at the other. I'd love some help to figure out just how these pieces are supposed to be used. Also the (what i think is) small mounting piece with the 90 in it.....does it get spot welded on or what?

IDQcivic should not be trusted
Why don't you just follow the instructions that came with your intake, I hope it came with instructions, because anything like that should!

that is the funny part.....no instructions

i have figured out that the smaller piece in the mounting point that i will need to spot weld on....or i could attach it down low (outta sight) with zip ties.....that should keep her from moving around too much. The second piece i figure is for the throttle cable......i think....i dunno....i would take pics but i dont have a digi cam.....

look there is NO difference with damn pipes....the only difference is if you get a LARGER DIAMETER PIPE....I belive the injen is largest...BUT ebay has the same generic intakes...all you have to look for is in the pic..If they show a coupling thats smaller on one end and bigger on the other that means its a large diameter pipe and not like my cheap *** intake thats only like 2.5"........check the pics! Also the filter comes into consideration also...i just bought a stainless steal filter and damn it looks so thin! get one of these filters

Is you ride a auto or Stick? is your intake a short or cold air?
If it is a stick with a cold air, your bent bracket might be for the relocation for the clutch bracket! That is the way my AEM mounted up.

its a stick and a CAI

i figure that the bent piece is four mounting to the motor somewhere...cause there isnt any welded on mounts....i'll probably zip tie it too though. *** spot welding that ****....crap isnt even the right colour as the intake!!! I think the long piece is the clutch bracket. The AEM is kinda like a flat 90(and a bit more) with 3 holes. Well mine is a straight peice of similar length wiht 3 holes also....we'll have to see how it holds...

LAST QUESTION

do you think a zip tie down low will be sufficient to keep it from shaking to much?

I also heard if you use a wet tampoon and wrap it around, then heat/dry it with a blow dryer it will harden like concrete.
That's what I heard.

Yes very much, the zip tie does not let my intake move whatsoever...It probably wont last as long as a bolt but works just as good

how did you guys install the generic intake from ebay w/o the tranny bracket? this one from ebay has looks like it has the tranny bracket but it is missing the welded tabs on the intake.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2431646734
also is it better to get an intake w/o the tranny tabs but with the welded tabs or this intake.
