Intake mod
No power down/battery disconnect needed after I/E mods. Ive heard the computer is very smart in these cars and adjusts just fine, according to my local tech.
Has anyone tried running a k&n in the stock airbox? Has anyone experienced big gains from a short ram verses..stock with K&N or without?
thanks, C-

I had a short ram in my ex auto and took it out because it caused a loss in low-end power (under 4k rpms). I'm now running an OEM K&N filter. You probably won't notice much difference from stock to K&N, but the paper filters just get dirty too fast.

In that case, DON'T get short ram. It's a waste and makes tons of noise. AEM doesn't even make a cold air for automatics, since there was no gain. You can get an Ingen intake, but then you have to worry about water getting in the filter (it's close to the ground). I would stay stock and just get a K&N drop in OEM filter for higher flow rate.
There is this big misconception about CAI's and hydrolocking. Let me set it straight. The only thing you have to worry about is if the ENTIRE FILTER is submerged under water, and only then will your car actually hyrolock.
There is this video online somewhere showing CAI on an RSX-S. TO prove the myths about hydrolocking, he had a friend spray full blast a water hose right at the filter. The guy then started his car and began to rev. Conclusion?? Water getting on the filter will not hydrolock or affect your car.
BTW, if you still dont believe it's a myth then you can always buy a water bypass for your CAI, which I think is HIGHLY unessessary. Unless you plan to drive your car in 3 foot deep water, I would highly doubt that you will hydrolock.
Thanks.
