ECU question?
OK y'all question, I was wondering if getting a custom burned ecu was a good thing to do, I have a few mods done to my car eventually going to be turboing it... As of right now I have bosch plt 4 plugs, cai, custom exhaust, and a better clutch. Also this is my first honda so I am not quite sure how to remove the ecu n placement. thanks for ne answers.
Thanks to the new OBD II (on board diagnostic version II) the computers on honda's are no longer programmable eproms as they once were. The chip cant be just pulled and replaced, you now have to have the entire computer center either replaced/reprogrammed. I had a hard time locating anyone who could do it personally. its way more expensive to cause you have to replace the entire computer or risk damage to trying to reprogram the current ones
Are you sure that our ecu is still 0bd2? I thought its Obd3. You can chip an Obd2 ecu but you will need a T-rex emulator to be able to rechip it because it has an 84 pin MCU not like the Obd1 ecu which has a 28 pin that is easily programmable when rechipped. For the new generation ECU or OBD3, FORGET IT!!! it has flash programming. cant chip that, but give it bout 2 years, someone will be able to crack the flash
