2004 Civic Hybrid IMA Battery

Hi,

I have a battery charger/maintainer that will charge a lithium battery. Two questions: Does the IMA Lithium battery have a Battery Management System (BMS) -- which is required to use the charger/maintainer? If so, does it make sense to even try to charge using a charger/maintainer? The IMA battery doesn't hold a charge, but can charge while driving. No IMA lights are on. Any thoughts on an inexpensive way to keep this battery working is appreciated.

the IMA battery surely have a more sophisticated charging system than the regular battery...
What it will do or not do, sorry, never owned a hybrid

Is Charging a Hybrid Car Battery Always Necessary?

First things first – not all hybrid vehicles are the same. We find that many of our New London customers are not aware that this type of electric vehicle comes in two varieties: hybrid and plug-in hybrid. As their names suggest, plug-in hybrids require being plugged into an outlet to charge the battery; hybrid vehicles do not. That’s because the battery in a hybrid vehicle is charged by the gas engine, which is always running at the same time as the electric motor. Plug-in hybrids, however, have bigger battery packs and can run solely on the electric motor for short periods of time."
