MPG
MPG
Hi, curlywurly. I inherited my '03 HCH with the CVT about 10 months ago. After replacing the fuel pump and clearing some codes, it has been good.
I have about 159K on it now. I can't get above 37.4 MPG. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the PCV valve is very important when it comes to MPG. Have you replaced yours yet?
Thanks!

Re: MPG
Hi CivicHybrid03.
I'm no expert that's for sure, I'll try and beak down my mpg usage, mine is a manual though.
City driving, lots of stops lights, every mile, for say 10 miles, 4 people in the car, I get 38 -41
Urban driving, just me, not quite so many stop lights, I get 41-43
Highway driving, just me, I get 43-48.
The engine is quite a complicated in this car, luckily, apart from a few sensor issues, mine runs like a top, not bad at 316,500 miles!
So, if you have an auto and how it's being driven, 37.4 might be normal - do you have a CEL or codes being thrown?
If you are driving on the flat, for 8-10 miles with only you in it, the 37.4 you are getting does seem a little low, I had issues with the brakes, I would get the car up in the air and see if the wheel spin freely as a first step.

I forgot to mention that most of my driving is city, by myself, hardly any hwy, so I guess 37.4 is about right.
Thanks!
Re: MPG

I have a new one, so now that the weather's nice, I'll be playing with all this stuff soon. New plugs, etc.
I appreciate the help, gents.
