Hybrid Engine/IMA battery system The hybrid have a very different engine and Battery system (IMA), so this forum is for items related to the Hybrid cars alone. If they are same as the regular cars, please post there instead.

2004 Honda civic Hybrid 1.3l ima vtec I have code p1600 and from what I've read is supposed to have a follow up code and mine would be p0700 automatic transmission malfunction but I was wondering if a trans code would set off the ima? Trans code is p1890

Re: Another P1600 post

P1600 found when reading engine and trans codes, is only an indicator that the IMA system has stored fault codes that must be read separately.
Apparently your scanner or code reader can't read the IMA codes.

Much like the P0700 is only a generic indicator found in the engine side of the PCM that means a trans related code is stored in the trans side of the control unit (or separate transmission control unit where applicable)

The PCM can be a dual processor unit, the Honda dealers scanner reads engine and transmission systems separately....but most aftermarket scanners and readers will show both sets of codes at the same time....so you got to see both the P0700 and the P1890 together.

I can't tell you if the P1890 caused the P1600, you'll have to read the IMA codes to learn what it stored.

Re: Another P1600 post

I actually have access to one of those fancy snap on code readers I'm just not good at using it yet I can read trans codes by themselves I can even pull up live data when the cars running but I guess it just doesn't read ima codes haha
