2002 Si or 2000 Maxima?

Well, which should i buy. how many of you Si owners regret buying your car? I have problems with the quality of my EX (well actually, it's a Canadian Si). Really pisses me off. HAVE to sell it. that's a must.

So yea, 2000 Maxima SE 5spd, or 2002 Si. what is the car to buy?

what are the benefits of the Si over the Maxima? Maxima is sportier. well sort of, quicker at least, and more luxurious, and looks nicer. I'm hoping to hear from an Si owner...

Why would you buy a car with no warratny over a car with a warranty. i assume the two cars are pretty close in price. I would go with the Si and a three year warranty...over a 3 year old Maxima that might have problems no covered.

PS: The interior of a Maxima sucks

Problems with my civic...

All kinds of rattles, Suspension is total crap after 58k miles. makes banging sounds as i go over bumps and it seems all the struts are blown. I know it's under warranty but it will just happen again once it's fixed. Interior is low quality in general. looks nicer than it is. plus, it's a slow beast!

As for the interior of the maxima being shitty... how so?

Well, the Maxima interior isn't awful, probably the same quality as a Honda. But, the thing is your paying a premium for a Maxima. I guess what I'm saying is the interior isn't nice enough for the kind of car the Maxima tries to be. The plastic seems cheap, and the fit and finish are similar to a Honda. Not bad, but Maximas go for around $27k new, and the interior is not up to par with comparable models.

The Si interior is much nicer than a Maxima. And comparing a maxima and an Si is hard. Too different type of machines. I still say go with brand new, unless you got money to spend on maintenance for the Maxima. And a 3 year old Maxima will have maintenance needs...warped rotors are a problem and a tune up would probably be necessary.

You got to ask yourself, do you want a older, bigger car --- with no warranty. Or, a smaller, newer car with a warranty. Personally, warranties are like gold. They could save you hundreds even thousands of dollars in the future.

Its your decision though.

Why would it break again after you fix it.

Had another Idea. But Maintaining the thing might scare me. any idea how much it costs to service a Bimmer? I'm looking. and I can probably swing a 2000 BMW 328Ci, or, if i look hard. a 99 or so 540i 6spd.

Those cars have nice interiors. and a 540, is fast also. well 0-60 in 5.5, I could beat 350s in my luxury cruiser.

I already know i'd like a Red or White Si with carbon fiber hood, type R kit, and my rims (Bronze Racing Hart CP10s). but, i dunno if i should really buy one. haha. maybe i should look into the used sports car thing. so many choices, I'm moving to Victoria so I could get say a Supra TT and drive it year round.

you keeo changing your mind so i'd say when you know what 2 cars your definately stuck over then ask again, personally the Si is much better than the EX, my EX isn't to pleasing to me. But the maxima is not something you want to go with. My friend bought the I30 and even that isn't all too hot IMO. Get the Si, or even something like a mazaspeed protege, sentra se-r spec v, slightly used integra type-r. Those cars are nice sports cars.

Well having traded in my 00' Maxima GXE 5-speed for a 2003 Si I can tell you that the 00+ Maxima is a very nice car, and the 5-speed really moves. Mine ran 14.8 @95 100% stock off the showroom floor w/ 70 miles on it. Responds very well to modifications as well, I was running mid 13's with a Vortech blower under the hood, then took that off and threw on a 100 shot and went even quicker. The only negative i can think of about the maxima is the resale value, which is a POSITIVE for you since you're getting one used. My car lost $10,000 in value in less than 2 years. Paid $23k new, Trade-in was $12,500 2 yrs later.

Looking back, I should have kept the Maxima.
I was scared that all the abuse I threw at that car, I would be having problems soon because my warranty just ran out (sold it w/ 36,500 mi).
A few months later I hear of a fellow Maxima.org member running 11's, putting down over 400hp at the wheels ON THE STOCK ENGINE OF HIS 96' MAXIMA!
It's been putting out sick power for a WHILE and has had NO PROBLEMS.

00+ Maxima is a real sleeper, looks SICK w/ just a drop and 19" wheels.
Yes, I was running 13's on HEAAAAAVY 19" wheels.

That said, I say go for the MAXIMA.

Oh yea, my ep is nice too, just slow and not as sexy.
I'll be more content once theres a t3t4 sitting under the hood.

One more thing to consider....the maxima SUCKS re: Gas Mileage.
I typically got about 17-18 MPG, though i have a size 16 foot (HEAVY).
Si is averaging about 24+ MPG or so.
