blinking battery light- help :(
blinking battery light- help :(
I have an 02 civic with 73k. Bought the car with a dead battery. The dealership "replaced" it before I picked it up. Shortly after the car wouldn't start, so the alternator, flywheel and starter were replaced two years ago. Just replaced the battery a month ago and the light still flickers on and off while driving. Checked the alternator belt and it looks good. Went to several auto parts stores and they did a charging system check, everything came up good. Any ideas?

Re: blinking battery light- help :(
Did you check that the terminals are fully tightened down on the battery posts?
Re: blinking battery light- help :(
nope. first time the light came on was about a year ago in a thunderstorm, heavy rain (didn't drive through a huge puddle), lightning struck nearby and the light came on for about 5 seconds, flickered then went back off. that's the closest its come to dying
Re: blinking battery light- help :(
after they replaced the flywheel and starter the check engine light was on, the tech left a wire unplugged (not sure which one). since then haven't had the CEL come on once
Re: blinking battery light- help :(
Probably due to a cheap aftermarket alternator. Even though it checks out OK, the light will flash. That's why I suggest always using OEM alternator because you won't get that issue.
Was the alternator replaced by the dealership or by a mechanic shop?
