I just bought an 08 Civic SI Sedan and it looks like it was once wired for sirius because I still have the docking station thing hooked up in the center console.

There is a small switch down near where clutch pedal is. Here is a pic, its the thing with the green button on it.

I asked a few friends and one of them suggested that I post it on the civic forum because they didnt know what it was either.

That little light at the top blinks and if I hold it down when the car is running it goes solid. Any help is appreciated.

looks like some sort of valet switch for an alarm system (if you lose the remote opener and you have to get in using the key and set off the alarm, you can press that button a certain number of times to turn it off and start the car with the key). do you have an alarm installed?

not again haha but this one has a button too. i wonder why it has adjustable screw mounts? it looks like a keychain led flashlight. i say trace the wires and see where they go, you will discover the alarm box prolly or maybe something else? see you get a new car and already its an adventure to figure stuff out.

I asked my salesman and he said he didnt know. I will have to take off the panel and take a look at where the wires go.

Also, there is an alarm installed, it went off when my friend pulled the handle of my door the other day.

I found out that it is def the valet switch for my alarm. I was installing some subs and an amp last night and took off the whole plastic piece that it was connected to and after getting everything wired I turned on my car and heard a single beep from my horn... then i popped the trunk and the alarm went off... I was like WTF...

So I started thinking and my roomate is like... did you hook everything back up? That is when it dawned on me that I had disconnected that little switch, after I hooked it back up, the beep/alarm crap stopped.

I love the Civic Forums lol.


Now I just gotta get the door jam panels back on over this 4 gauge wire... lol wish me luck. :P
