door panel problems

So i had an accident with my panel.... i have been searching everywhere for a door panel, i finally found one, and when it arrives, the part that is usually carpet, is leather. I wanted to know if there was a way to remove just that small peice under the window. It has little black round **** that seem to hold it in place, but they almost look melted down, so i just want to know if its even possible to remove this peice... has any one done it??? anything would be helpful. I already took pliers at them and tried twisting and nothing happened. I dont want to pull at it because i dont want it to brake

heres a picture of what im talking about door.jpg

not really its one piece but you can glue new fabric over that here is a site that sells pre cut inserts.

Re: door panel problems

its simple you get some 3M trim adhesive from walmart $2.50 tape off the surrounding area for over spray apply glue to the door and the new fabric let it get tacky apply the fabric and gently smooth it out with your fingers. i would suggest practicing on something because you only get two cut outs. i re did my headliner, visors, and my plastic pillars with suede my first try its not that difficult also there are DIYs with pictures if you search the web.

Re: door panel problems

Like lowlife said all you have to do is buy the fabric and put it on there. Its pretty simple when you know what your doing but if you dont then it can be pretty frustrating. So like he said practice on something first. I did this to my ep3. I bought the red fabric from the type r ep3 and put it on my door panels.

Re: door panel problems

i think what i am going to do is change the other door to leather as well. it blends in really nicely with the plastic of the door... because the door has that fake leathery texture to it. And i will just use my door with the crack to practice on hehe. The only thing i noticed is that the one with the leather has an extra layer so that its more cushion-y.. and i dont know what exactly it is.. i was just going to go to joanns to get the fabric.
