Corrosion issues

So I've got some corrosion issues... first one is on the interior, the metal bars that the seatbelts hook onto near the floor. They are very rusty and I'm not sure if I should trust them in an accident...

Drivers side:

Also happening on the passenger side:

Also happening on the passengers seat bracket:

And on the outside, on the wiper arms near the hinges, it is happening as well.

Any ideas on fixes for these issues? Anyone experienced it before?
Car is an 02 Coupe btw

Re: Corrosion issues

Wow... I have never seen the inside rust like that. Do you have a leak going into your car? I'd check to see if the carpet is damp at all... odd... Rust spraying the car before winter is always a good idea and helps corrosion a lot, but not on the interior. Are both sides like that or just the one?

Don't bother with an electric rust control system because I have one and honestly. I don't see it doing squat because under the hood I have corrosion as well from the salty roads here in Canada.

Re: Corrosion issues

Nope there is no water anywhere..

Yes, both sides are doing it, as well as the passenger side seat bracket (which is missing its plastic cover - I didn't check under the other covers though so they may be doing it)

I'm not sure if I should replace them or what... are they supposed to have a cover on them or is that it? Does Honda even sell them anymore?

Re: Corrosion issues

Take the parts off, sand, prime and paint. You should be good to go. I had to do the wiper arms last fall on mine.

Re: Corrosion issues

Do you guys think the seat belt anchors are safe though? Or has the rust ruined their structural integrity?

Can I trust them when I need them?

I'm gonna go to the dealer tomorrow and get a price for a new set of those bars.

Re: Corrosion issues

It looks like surface rust. You should be okay to paint them.

Re: Corrosion issues

Yeah it looks like I'm going to be painting them... I just went to the dealer and apparently they don't sell JUST the bar... you've got to buy the entire assembly, which is over $400 per side. What should I paint + sand them with?

Also, is it just me or do all Honda dealership employees come across as huge *******s?

Re: Corrosion issues

You can sand them with sand paper and paint them with Rust-oleum.
