Turning off 98 Civic Alarm..broken remote situation

Hi,

I Registered here because Im having trouble shutting my Civic's alarm off.

I broke the remote today and can't figure out how to get in my car without the alarm going off.

Can't I do this with the key only? (even though i used the remote to locck it last time before i broke the remote)

This is driving me nuts...I've tried flicking thekey left and right>>right and left etc...no luck.

Help..thanks

Do you have a Honda factory alarm? Typically if you do that goes through the radio. You need to get another transmitter, and reprogram the system, you must have a key to do this. When you get the transmitter ask the parts dept to give you program instructions, or you can find them on the web.

thanks Papi,

I just went outside after i posted that thread and successfully (accidentally) figured out how to disarm the alarm by using that slim button on the radio..(ignition + button combo)

Isn't there a way to do it while you're actually opening the door..seems really stupud to me that there is no way to use the Key to shut it down..

Took me a while..i guess im going to try ordering a remote from one of these online places..

Does anyone have any experience getting a replacement remote from somewhere other than the dealer?

Yes the valet bar will disarm it, I forgot about that.

Here is a quick link, still expensive.
