My first project...should I go for it? $1,046.44 is it worth it???
Okay guys, so thanks alot to everyone who has been posting and helping me out since I am on the new tuner scene and have bitten by the bug. I have found a really good sight..procivic.com that has given me some really good info and products, so here is my list of parts for my first project that I plan on DIY and would like some input from some experienced tuners if I should go for this project or not..I am going to list the products and the amount and really would appreciate the feedback...
Exhaust system:
Magnaflow-catback exhaust system $392.71
DC Sports Race Headers - $360.97
*Also, I really would like to keep my car legal and throw on a cat converter..anyone know of any direct-fit high flow cat-converters that would go with the headers that I would like to get??? and if not..would anyone know about how much it would cost for me to have a universal one customized to fit the headers that I am going to buy???*
Ignition Components:
MSD Street Fire Ignition - $144.79
MSD Blaster Ignition Coil- $48.71
MSD Modified Distributor Cap and Rotor Kit- $47.70
Denzo Iridium Power Spark Plugs (Set of 4) - $51.56
So there it is..this is what i would really like to do to get things going....a short ram-intake would be added, but it is already on my throttle-body..so do you guys think that I should go for it??? Any advice, input, suggestions, warnings, anything would be extremly helpful and greatly appreciated..so what do you guys think..is it worth the $$??? and are these good mods for the price that they are asking???

What year civic do you have?
If you want to keep it legal, dont buy a race header which is a low restriction/high flowing header that gives you more top end. If you want to upgrade, then get a different header, keep the stock cat or upgrade it with an aftermarket one, like Random Technology's cats/downpipes and mate it to a good exhaust.
As for exhausts, everyone has a magnaflow exhaust and its not that special. Check out youtube clips for what they sound like as well as other exhausts.
All the other parts you listed are a waste of money. Assuming you can upgrade these parts, you have a pre-7thgen civic. Just upgrade the wires between the distributor and the sparkplugs and you'll see the same performance gains as the other parts while adding someone personality to your engine bay.

yeah, it's a 99 civic...what will the wires do? Will they make much of a difference since I wouldnt be changing the plugs and there wouldn't be an upgrade in how many sparks were being sent to the coil to spin the rotor?

Well, the cylinder only needs one spark to ignite the gas/air mixture in the cylinder. It doesnt take a lot of power to create the spark. Adding bigger/better wires for the current to flow from the distributor to the plugs will be all you should upgrade. Its not like adding more voltage to the spark creates a faster/higher revving motor. If your plugs are old, change them, but most tuners I've talked to wont use plugs that cost more than $10 each.

the msd will give you a stronger spark however with stock wires you are putting restriction on that and wont see much improvement, upgrade your wires and just go with ngk stock replacement plugs and you will see better gains and i think they r like 7 bucks each just did a set on the gf's car

I am glad that you came on here first cause you would be wasting money. The msd stuff would be a total waste and would have nothing to do with any kind of power gains. The magnaflow exhausts really are not that great. And if you want a cat on your car the then the race header is not for you. The race header is made for one solid purpose and it is for a non restrictive header.
Hell if you want power swap that bitch lol. K24 with vtec killer setup
