Hit a pre-dead deer.
Well, this is a story which entails a question. I was driving down the highway doing 87km/h and there was a dead deer on the road (a Big one). I had no time to swerve out of the way so I decided to center it on the car knowing that I was going to hit it. I wasnt driving my civic I was actually driving my Pontiac G6. Luckilly, it must have gotten under the car enough not to cause any major damage (body wise anyway). I looked under the car and things under there are pretty bent up and there is lots of ... stuff on my exhaust and just about everywhere else. I called the police and such but they want me to come back if the damage is over 1000 dollars to write up a report. Unfortunatly now the car STINKS... It smells so bad I dont know what to do. This just happened like 15 minutes ago but when I got home i checked things out with a flashlight. I plan tommorow to wash the bottom of the car out as best as I can but I'm just wondering if anyone knows the best way to get the smell out. I'm assuming nothing is seriously broken because the car was not leaking any fluids. Any input would be greatly appreciated as this is my wifes daily driver and she won't be able to deal with that smell.

I can't imagine doing it in the civic... The car would have been finished!!! We were going to take the civic too but changed our minds and took the pontiac! Whew!

you can go at it with a powerwasher and see if it comes loose but i hit a deer leg, well i dragged a deer leg, but it was all over my car for like a week or so, in nevada heat..... sucked

Well... I spent about a half hour spraying the bottom of the car with a power washer and a lot of the "stuff" came off. Rather nasty... then we did all our errands in the car to try to burn some of it off and it seems to be getting better. It's definitely still there though and man does it ever stink. I feel bad for the deer though, we drove by the spot today and it got dragged a pretty long ways by the person who initially hit it. He hit the engine of my car and then rolled the rest of the way underneath, I had him pretty centered in the car which probably prevented me from losing control. I'm assuming its going to stink for a week or two at least anyway. I also have a friend who works at a car wash that sprays the underneath as well and I'm gonna go through it a few times.
Oh yes and the damage is pretty minimal, some bent heat shielding and heat shield bolts, and a cracked piece of plastic underneath... that's about all!!! got lucky!!
