Why does honda put phillips screws to hold on rotors?

Talking about a pain in the butt. I am doing a brake job on my parents 03 accord(all wheel disc). I got the caliper off, then I see these stupid 2 phillips screws attached to the rotor. Sprayed pb blaster on them and let them soak, then tried a screwdriver(#3 bit) with no luck. Tried some heat and again, no luck. Tried an impact screwdriver(didnt have a #3), and didnt get anywhere.

The head is stripping a bit. Will a simple drilling out of the screws remove them? Or, do you guys have any better tips?

i know u can buy striped screw head removers all it realy is is like a catch http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51xyyD6KE6L.jpg thats kinda what they are i would just drill it out enough that you can get like a flat head in with a tight fit and then unscrew. or in other words drill a bit smaller than one of your screw drivers (smaller than the widest point) stick your driver in it and push and unscrew

If it's only there to hold it during production why in the world are they so tight. I did my brake job and an impact screwdriver barely got it off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Why does honda put phillips screws to hold on rotors?

what i did when i stripped those stupid screws is take like a pencil chisel and i tapped them at a angle carefully until the unscrewed themselves

my question is where do you get replacements because everytime i take the wheel off the rotor likes to hang really retarted
