Transmission Flush 01 Civic

My 01 Civic EX has 123k miles on it and is due for a transmission flush. The fluid is somewhat dirty. Is there anything special that needs to be run through there to clean it out before putting in new transmission fluid? Im attempting to try to do it myself to save the 2 to 300 bucks the shops want to do it.

Re: Transmission Flush 01 Civic

200 or 300??? wow, mine was done for 150 by the same shop i ALWAYS go to cuz they rock.

u dont NEED to put anything in there, but u can get trans flush fluid, like from seafoam and let it run in there for as long as it says.

Re: Transmission Flush 01 Civic

usually the service manual just calls for drain and refill. flush can damage the transmission parts. should not be more than $50 even at the dealer. but i like to diy and save $25. the fluid by itself costs $7 a quart but its worth it. you need 2.9 qt for drain and refill.

I did mine for the cost of fluid. Its like an oil change, just a different bolt to drain and a different one to fill.

Re: Transmission Flush 01 Civic

Yeah, don't do a tranny flush, going to cause more harm than good. It's a simple drain and fill, nothing more.
