testing metalcast smoke paint

so i got bored today, had some metalcast smoke paint that is supposed to be used over a chrome surface, and what a surprise, i found my old trunk emblem! time for some painting. i was actually quite surprised how good it looks. i put on 3 coats and here is the result. if you dont put as many coats on, the finish doesnt look as smooth. basically, it looks like shiny flat black, almost gunmetal. and according to the can, it says this stuff is pretty tough and resists up to 500F temps. so i can see this being used for boh headlights, painting chrome interior pieces like accents, door handles, trim rings, etc, chrome intake tube, battery ties, and other stuff that already has a good chrome finish. now if anyone wants my trunk emblem with pegs for $10 shipped lemme know

stock chrome

after painting and drying a bit. it looks shinier now that it dried more. in the shade it looks darker, and in the sun it has a nice shine and reflections. enough that you can still see your face in it.

Re: testing metalcast smoke paint

oh yeah im sure with regular paint it would be a mess lol. and this is the lightest shade while making it look smooth. could go much darker by applying more coats. i might try that later to see how dark it becomes...
