vtec controller?

I have a 93 ex with a d16z6 and I was wondering if I use a vtec controller and lower the engage point if I would build power and speed quicker, and I was also wondering about cams what whould be good for a daily driver and what do I have to consider for this mod?

Re: vtec controller?

nope, modding the vtec point almost always causes power loss, and is bad for the motor.

Re: vtec controller?

would you use the controller if you built a turbo or a built na motor.

wouldnt you lower the engage point for a turbo to build boost faster

or raise it to a higher rpm point for NA

Re: vtec controller?

the only thing you could do na is use it for fuel tuning on the dyno. vtec should not be changed for any reason. there are alot of factors that the ecu decides when its safe to switch the cam, and just using the controler to force it will cause big problems. not to mention power loss. for a turbo, youre gonna need a real fuel management like aem ems and not a stupid controller.
