My 87 Civic 2 dr. hatchback with 1.3 motor & Hondamatic seems to hunt between 3rd & lock up on the highway. Everything is fine as I accelerate normally & the torque converter locks up like it should. But if I hold a steady throttle, the trans downshifts to 3. The minute I press down on the gas again, it locks back up. It does this continually & frankly is driving me crazy.
I have just acquired this car so I don't know a lot about it yet. It seems like something is out of adjustment.
What would you suggest I try first?

Well, this appears to be the wrong forum to ask my particular problem. Can anyone suggest where I might get a better response?
Is there another forum that might have an answer?

hey man i think your problem would be somewere in your valvebody of the transaxle, if there is a problem it just sounds like normal shift conditions really i mean i really couldnt narrow it down without trying the car but if you really would like to post this on a tech site there is a site out there something like needtechs.com i have it wrote down somewere but i will try and get it to you asap
