Same ? Is It Worth It

my question is the same as everyone elses... is it worth it ? except for me, i dont mean is it worth it to trade my 02ex cuz i want out of this thing period so what i mean is, is the power enough for you? was it a very big difference or do you wish you would have gotten a wrx or somthing along those lines? I WANT A FAST CAR THAT WITH HONDATA, I/H/E I WILL BE HAPPY WITH AND SMOKE SOMTHING BESIDES JOGERS IN THE PARK. IS THIS NOT FOR ME? PS I LOVE THE LOOK OF THEM AND HAVE BEEN AT HONDA ALL DAY TRYIN TO GET THEM TO GET ME OUT OF 2000 - EQUITY, WHICH TO A DEALERSHIP AINT SHYT SO THEY SHOULD PAY OF MY TRADE IF I WAIT LONG ENOUGH. AND ALSO IVE BEEN STALKIN THE SI FORUMS ALREADY ABOUT ALL YER RESPONSES TO TRADE IN (SORRY FOR RAMBLING) JUST WANT A RESPONSE AFTER YOU HAVE GOTTEN USE TO THE CAR AND THE "NEW" THING HAS WORN OFF.

first, turn off caps lock,

also, as i said before, if you want straight line acceleration, no, this is not the car for you. if you want a handler, yes, this may be the car for you

ur not much help but, i had a chance to drive one last night and it was faster than the ex but not by much thats why i say is it worth modding it like in my previous section, reason i ask this question is because the SI is not much faster than my car but my car has all bolt ons and the si is in stock form soooooo....will it be worth it to do mods to this? will it be noticably faster because ihe on an ex does nothing. ehh?

well if your talking about a possibility of an wrx then you talking about around 24,000 dollars. That's type-s area. You add I/H/E and hondata, Your around 200hp with little less than 9000 rpm. Not bad and really different than your ex. With an ep3 that gives you around 6000 to get to wrx or type-s status. That in itself will give you a turbocharger, clutch, lsd, hondata, and wheels. Now you got one fast ep3. maybe around 250-275hp.

oh, and don't trip about the financing if it's through Honda finance. I had an 02' dx, traded it for an 04Si... I lost some money in the deal but like you said them D17's don't respond all to well to bolt ons unless it's a turbo setup. Honda wants to sell you that ep3, I had to walk out the first day, by the time I got back from work there a message on my answering machine talkin about ...Tim I talked with my manager and.....all of a sudden I got a ep3 k-engine!

what i am concerned about is after hondata and bolt ons will i regret buying this thing? are u guys happy ?

after stalking the forums for a while i have been reading this and that about how people wish they had the A2 for the traditional vtec kick and they always correct people on the subject who dont know what they are talkin about and in the process its almost like they are pissed they bought the car, givin there resposes such as "our vtec is economy its not made for big power", if this is the case then can you still make big all motor power?

what if i buy this thing and get type r internals with an A2 head and a reflash for that o-s-o loved 8 K rev ????? been done yet or am i dreamin people?

Theres some that have already done the head swap, internals and ECU flash and seem to love it. Personally I dont really regret trading my EX for the Si. I think the Si is alot funner car and it can be fast if you know what to do. Will you be happy I dunno if you me, prolly not unless you got alot of money for mods cause once Im used to the power I just want more and more. I like the rareity of having the Si.

ok hondata guys im callin u out...i really like the ep hatch alot and dont want to spend the money for the type s, and the absence of "traditional vtec" aside with what i meantioned earlier about bolt ons I/H/E and reflash on the A3 will i have (dont flame) a 14 second ep????

and dont u worry im goin CTR internals with A2 head the first month i own this thing!

well, for 14 seconds youll need more than I/H/E and hondata, without spendin big money, the A3 isnt a very potent N/A motor, of the three, A, A2, A3, the A3 is best for FI applications, the A and A2 are the N/A kings of the K series

Depending on if you can drive an A3 with bolt-ons and Hondata could hit 14's, but if your swaping to the A2 head your first month you can hit it pretty easy, with A2 head, Toda package, and Hondata flash with some good tires.

I traded in my 03 ex for my 03 si and I dont regret the change at all. It seems more solidly built with not hardly as many rattles as the ex. As for power its not like going from a geo metro to a wrx but still after a while it is more powerful(seems like it has its good days and bad days as with all hondas ive been in dunno why that is, maybe weather?)its low end is stronger cause i can chirp/squeal the tires as low as 2800 rpm about, and considering the car is heavier and the tires are wider than the ex... the REAL power is 5000rpm and beyond it totally gets pissed and goes fast when the timing gets changed. my friend owns an 04 wrx and he drove my car he said granted it doesnt have the "turbo pull" his car has but its very impressive to him. and as for handeling "it cant be cooler" it seems to handle like a 4WD car how it feels like a power slide when you turn hardcore, I speed all the time just to feel the turns, its aweseme. I would only get a different car for the looks but the si's cosmetics are growing on me extremely fast i love the car

dood i hated it now i love too...i ******* want one so bad i am just skeptical about the work involved in making it fast now...a local shop wanted 800 bucks labor charge for a head install, and i asked about hondata and he said it has to be dynoed to work right (im pretty sure thats only true of the K pro) and he wanted like another 800 for putting in 11.8:1 pistons.

i can do the head myself but pistons i dont think so... have to go from underneath and all... high COMP is the only way i am gonna get the all motor power i want.

you can try swapping ECU's, your stock for someone's Hondata.

and if youre eventually going FI, you dont want those High Compression Pistons

Right now the SI is a little more money to mod because of all the R&D cost that places are trying to make up right now with the new motor. As we are seeing the cost is starting to take a fall. I think that some of the turbos have even droped a few $1000 form just a few years ago.

there is also a company I want to say R & D something that is now offering stroker kits for the k20, they will only go to 2.4 because of something or the other, with some searches you should be able to find it. Dave
Hickman racing also has everything you'd want for an all motor car. Thats at Davehickmanracing.com. He has a 9 second all motor Honda I believe it was the first.
