I've heard that getting water in there can cause trouble, and I live in seattle. Should I go for something else?

AEM makes a bypass valve that goes on the CAI. It stops the water from going into your engine. If you like Injen though, you can purchase the SRI and get the CAI extention to go with it. Then when the weather is bad, you just change the CAI into a SRI. There has to be a lot of water, like driving into a lake, to hydrolock your engine. I live where it floods all the time, so I would benfit from having a bypass valve. I hope that helps your question.

That bybass valve does nothing plus i heard a couple horror stories where it broke and went into the trottle body. I have the Injen CAI... I have a heat shield on it to prevent some water but i bet it does nothing - I still have never had a problem with it and i've driven it in some bad storms but i baby it when it starts to rain.

Well, it rains often here, but not usually very hard, and I've been here for a year and I've never seen anything near flooding.

As far as the injen SRI/CAI how much pain in the *** is it to change it? (keeping in mind you'll basically only be doing it while standing in the rain).

I have the Injen CAI and I've never had a problem with it. Mostly because the CAI goes into the wheel well and I've even driven through so deep puddles. But I always let off the gas and coast through them.

Its not that hard. Im sure it might take a few tries to get it down. If you havent seen flooding, you should be ok by leaving the CAI on the whole time. You basically need to submerge the filter and give it gas to suck up large amounts of water. I would have that problem because Louisiana floods a lot. You should be ok.

Sounds good, I think I'll go CAI... any reason I'd pick injen over AEM or vice versa?

No, but I'll check it out. I just got my car less than 2 months ago and I've been doing a lot of research and reading forums and stuff. I'm trying to educate myself before I jump into anything.

I can look at them for days.. they just look like fancy car parts... I don't know how to tell which one's actually better. If nobody can give me any reason to pick one over the other, I'll probably just pick the one I think looks coolest, which is the red AEM one.

civicvtec1ps.. thanks for steering me to ephatch.com.. great site and more focused on our cars, which is what I've been looking for. I can find threads about almost any question that I had.
