2005 Honda Civic Hybrid P0304 flashing CEL
Hey everyone,
Well my first mistake was buying a Hybrid. Secondly, my CEL started flashing so I took it to a mechanic. They replaced the spark plugs and coil packs. 1 & 4 were still misfiring. So I took it to my neighbor and he cleaned the EGR valve and ports in the intake and now the P0304 cylinder is the only reoccurring code. Spark plug 4 is new and has a spark the whole time. Compression is #150 psi all around except cylinder 4 which is at #100 psi.
He suggested we remove the head and a valve job may be required with what he thinks is a burnt valve and also recommended a new head gasket set. The car will also need new coolant and oil after the repair.
I do not want the car anymore, I am looking for something else but, I was curious if anyone else is familiar with this kind of issue or could relay any insight? My boyfriend is fairly familiar with head gasket repair but we aren't even sure what to expect. We'd like to get it up in running under $500 but I also want to be realistic. Or worse case scenario sell it as is with a list of the repairs.
Any advice is helpful. Thanks!

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
