Will Seafoam harm my engine?

I have a rebuilt '01 Civic, with the 1.7 engine. I added 3 or 4oz of Sea Foam to the crank case and 12oz to the gas tank. Will this do any harm? I talked to my mechanic, who is a trained Honda certified mechanic, and he said that was a bad thing to do. There are supposedly small pieces of metal that will now be floating around in the oil sump that will do damage to the engine. Is this true and should I change the oil now? I use Mobil 1 synthetic 5W20. I don't put too many miles on the car, less then 3500/yr.

Re: Will Seafoam harm my engine?

Should be fine as long as you didnt drive around with seafoam in the crank case, long term, or high rpm.

usually for flushing an engine with
-oil based flush
-atf
-detergent in oil (such as seafoam)

You leave the flush in the car for 5-10minutes, idle it, or drive it at low rpm. Then dump the oil and replace.
