Timing the engine

I have a 2002 Honda Civic LX with 110,000 miles. The manual recommends a tune up at this point. Does anybody know if this tune up should include timing the engine, which has been the case with every other japanese car I've owned. And if so, where can I get information on the engine timing procedure. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Re: Timing the engine

you're gina have to wait for a pro on here to tell you but i think at 100k a lot of the members on here do the engine timing and a valve clearence reset, both of which are in the haynes manual and the engine repair manual from honda.

Re: Timing the engine

If you search you can find this easy, heres the list anyway:

-Timing Belt
-Water Pump
-Auto-Tensioner
-Valve Cover Gasket
-Cam and Crank seals if they are leaking
-All pully belts if they havent been changed in awhile
-Probably Spark Plugs if they havent been changed in awhile
-Maybe Spark Plug Tube Seals

Thats about it

Re: Timing the engine

what the previous person said is prettty much on spot, but here is a clarification:

timing belt
power steering belt
AC compressor belt
tensioner + tensioner spring
water pump + water pump seal
spark plugs
change ur ATF or MTF (automatic tranmission fluid/manual trans fluid)

these are optional, recommended but not necessary unless they break or are broken:
valve gasket seal
cam/crank seals
spark plug tube seals

Re: Timing the engine

its CHEAPEST if you BUY it as a kit yourself, and take it to a mechanic shop and have them install it. they should charge no more than about 200-300 dollars

here is the kit, its OEM honda and its everything you need for the "timing belt kit"
