clutch quick question
clutch quick question
Basically, the gears grind when shifting into first or reverse (from a stop, with the engine running), rather than going into gear, it would not let me put it into gear, i had to restart the car before it would catch. It happened this morning and yesterday. My friend told me that is feels like the clutch is going, but I just want to make sure before I go spend 600$ for a new one, so what do you guys think?

Re: clutch quick question
Do a few things first: change your clutch fluid and bleed the new fluid into the system (assuming you have a hydraulic clutch, since i dont know what specific generation you have)
Its always a good idea to change the tranny fluid with new Honda MTF, youd be surprised what a difference tranny fluid makes.
Have someone else drive it and see what they think.
And always be sure you have the clutch to the floor and wait a sec for the input shaft to stop spinning before going into reverse otherwise itll grind. Its good practice to do the same for first when taking off from a stop.

Re: clutch quick question
I have a similar problem, when i shift from second gear to third gear it makes a grinding kind of noise. It only happens whenever i shift into third gear! I took it too a mechanic and they said i need too replace the clutch, but i dont know what type of clutch i should get, or what brand. Can anyone give me some advice?

that is a syncro,
sorry my friend that's in the tranny
,common honda problem
usually starts as a problem with high rpm shifts and progreses.
as for the poster of this thred,
how many miles on the clutch?
your best bet is to try to replace fluid to honda spec like previously noted, but if all else fails,
$129 at schmucks and a day of dirty nuckles gets you a new clutch.
