Intake sensor on cold air?
Hello, i am pretty new to this site and pretty new to working on cars as i am only 16. I Have a 1998 civic ex and i recently installed a short ram cold air intake. When i took the old intake system out i unplugged the air intake sensor and never put it back in because the new intake doesnt have a plug.
Im not really sure what to do and it just bothers me that my CE light is on, if anybody knows how to fix this please let me know soon.
Thanks

Re: Intake sensor on cold air?
well if you keep the sensor plugged in to the harness, it will still work. you can use a ziptie to attach it somewhere near to the old location. just make sure the sensor is in open air and it will read temps just fine!
Re: Intake sensor on cold air?
Well the problem is the sensor looks like an electrical plug with holes in it instead of going out? Is that what its suppossed to look like? I have it sitting next to the intake pipe and my CE light is staying on, do you think the sensor may be broke?

Re: Intake sensor on cold air?
possibly, altho they are hard to break. post a pic if you can. you need to actually plug the sensor into the connector tho. you may have left the sensor in the stock airbox intake when you swapped it out. should look something like this. #15 is the air temp sensor. it has a square housing and a small tube sticking out []--
Re: Intake sensor on cold air?
ok, i figured it out, i looked at your diagram and checked my old air box and on a 6th gen. ex its not located on the end, but its up where the stock intake bolts onto the intake manifold. Apparently when i took off the stock one, only the sensor unplugged from the adapter so my intake sensor was in my stock intake system in my garage. I plugged it into the new one and it fit, but when does the CE light turn off?
Thanks gearbox!!!!

Re: Intake sensor on cold air?
after some driving cycles, the cel will go off on its own. or you can just disconnect the battery and it will reset right away.
