P1456

Hello I have a 2005 Civic DX the check engine light came on. It came out to be a P1456. I tightened the fuel cap what else would cause this code?

Re: P1456

well usually youre supposed to replace the fuel cap with a new one, cause it still has the pressure seal inside that could just be worn out. get a new oem honda cap first and try that. if that doesnt fix it, youre gonna have a hard time finding where the leak is. the evap recovery system is huge and there are alot of lines that could have a small leak. this is the actual code: sounds like a new gas cap will fix it tho.

How far did you drive after tightening the fuel cap?

Re: P1456

was the cap loose at all. most likely just re tighten the cap clear the code and be on your way. i see them come into the shop all the time. especially if the cap was loose from the gas station guy.... if you re tightened it and cleared the code and it comes back on with the same code then you have a real evap problem, in that case it does get complicated. good luck let us know if it comes back on. but well all hope that it doesnt.
