Clutch Problems????

Have a '91 Honda Civic with a little over 200,000 miles. I bought it a couple of years ago cheap to get to and from work. It has a 4-speed manual transmission. Lately, I have noticed that when I stop at a light and let out the clutch (idling) I hear a "growling" noise. When I push in the clutch pedal, it stops. Is this a sign that the clutch needs replacing or something else going on with the transmission?

Re: Clutch Problems????

Pilot or throwout bearing, can't remember which, but yeah needs a new clutch if one of those is going out. You standard $70 clutch kit at Advance includes both in the box with the new pressure plate and clutch disc. Cheap part, expensive labor as always.

Re: Clutch Problems????

How difficult is the clutch replacement? Can I do it by myself? Do I need special tools? Can I get the tools I need through the "Loan-A-Tool" program? Can I do this on jack stands, or do I need a lift?
