Valvoline MaxLife Question For Civic SI 2007

I have 600 Miles on it so far and my brother Reved it one time at about 6k in 3 or 4th gear. SO shoudl I change the factory oil sooner now?

I have read around the topics here that it might be a good idea to change you factory breakin oil or change the filter at about 1K.

Well if I am going to change my Oil FIlter I might as well change the oil as well.

I read that Maxlife has about the same % of Moly as the factory breakin oil. Not sure however if it has the other additives as in the breakin oil.

Is it safe to use the VM for the new engine or not? I was going to change it at 1K then change it again at 5K.

Aftyer 5K what shoudl I use? Out here in my area most of them use a Honda Oil which some say are rebaged Moble clean oil or somethiong like that but other Honda dealers are telling me its soem type of Citco Oil?

Will most 5w20 oils be Type III? Not sure what it means but do 5w20 oils have synthetic blends in them or not? Is that Honda rebaged stuff have synthetic blends in it?

If I get my oil changed at 1K is it safe to use the Honda brand whatever it is? SOme Honda's tell me its Moble 1 not the SYnthetic obvioulsy and others say its CItco?

Last question:

If I go Valvoline Max should I go 5w20 or 10w20? They recommend 5w20 but its a synthetic blend so not sure what to do?

If I go 100% Synthetic Mobile 1 Extened Performance or Amzoil afgter about 10K from what I have read here what weight shoudl I use? 10w30 or 5w30?

VM and M1 or both available as 5w30 and 10w30. No 5w20 available?

Amzoil not sure what to get? 7500 or 2000 series and which weight?

I am in Chicagoland area.

Hopefully someone can help me soon I am at 600 miles now and want to change at 1K.

Thanks

Re: Valvoline MaxLife Question For Civic SI 2007

You shouldn't have to change your oil so soon. I think you're paranoid man honestly. And never put anything other than what's on the oil cap. 10w30 will be way too thick if your recommend to put 5w20. Btw, mobile 1 do have synthectic in 5w20 bc I've seen them in autozone. Remember changing your oil too frequently is not good either.

Re: Valvoline MaxLife Question For Civic SI 2007

So leave what I have in there now and don't change it unitl it sais 15% on the Maintenance Minder? Also when its time to change use Moble 1 full synthetic 5w20? WHich Moblle 1 Exteneded Performance or just regular M1?

I thought Full synthetic is not suppose to go in until after about 10K?

Any other comments about what I said previoulsy?

THanks

5000 miles on the factory oil fill. Thats what they recommend, there's a reason for it.
You dont need to short change the oil anymore, its unnecessary.

Re: Valvoline MaxLife Question For Civic SI 2007

Ok SO after the Factory Oil Change what shoudl I use M1 EP 5w20? Valoline Maxlife 5w20? If they make 5w20? Or just stick to the oil Honda puts in it which is either the Mobil1 clean somthing? Or Citco oil? Not sure but its one or the other. Stick with that?

Re: Valvoline MaxLife Question For Civic SI 2007

Emunity, i believe the 07 Si's take 5w30 not 5w20. it says in the manual that you could actually use 10w30 but IMO, i would NOT use it cause the Si is made to run on 5w30 oil. and YES YES YES!. you should use and STICK with MOBIL 1's FULLY SYNTHETIC OIL!!. and try to find a good oil filter too!. like a MOBIL oil filter too!. MOBIL has great stuff!. thats what i'ma use for my first oil change.

and yeah, don't change it so soon!. wait till the Minder says so or change it at 3000 miles or maybe 3500 miles. you should be fine.

BTW, do you have any pictures of your 07 Si? i'd like to see.

Re: Valvoline MaxLife Question For Civic SI 2007

I thought the Honda Oil FIlter was the best one to use? I also think the SI 2007 recommends 5w20 but I will double check? Btw which Mobile one do you use? Extended Performance?

I will take Pics later on and post them.

Re: Valvoline MaxLife Question For Civic SI 2007

i don't think Mobil makes a 5w20 extented performance oil. the honda oil filter is probably the only other oil filter i'd get other than the Mobil oil filter. either one is great!. and YES!, pictures would be nice

Re: Valvoline MaxLife Question For Civic SI 2007

i know i mentioned this before, but its important. do not use the lc20 in oil until the engine is broken in. fp60 is fine to use in gas. i would wait until 20k miles to start using lc20. thats prolly alot but just to make sure. i think the company says to only wait a few thousand miles.
