How many quarts?

Well I'm going to be changing my oil in about 30 min. I have a 2003 Honda Civic EX 5SPD. Does anyone know how many quarts goes in? I searched and got different answers like 3.5, 3.7, 3.8, and 4.0 quarts. So I was really unsure on how much oil goes in. I bought 4 quarts of Mobil 1 5w30 and fram oil filter. I pmed some of the mods and one of them recommended me to start a thread.

should be 3.7 thats what my 04 takes. It won't hurt if you put a little too much in just check the oil stick. As long as your not way off the number you should be fine

Do you have an EX? I just did the oil change ann only put in 3.8 quarts. You think it's safe to just dump the rest in?

I can't remember, but I think my manual says 3.4. I just dump in 3 1/2 quarts. Start it up and let it run for about 20 seconds. Let it sit for about 30 min. check the oil level, if it needs any, then add. Check it again the next morning after sitting overnight.

I used to work at Wal-Mart Tire and Lube. The D17A2 (VTEC) D17 takes 3.8 Qts Including filter. I just dump 4 quarts in it. It won't hurt to have .2 more quarts in it.

i just put 4 w/filter. having .2 more wont hurt, as it will build more pressure and go through the pcv soon anyway. but if you dumping in half a quart to a quart too mcuh that could cause some ****, especially if your putting more than that extra.

i put 3.25 quarts of Mobil 1 5w-20 in my 05 civic nd its right or just below the full mark and use honda filter. frame is a death trap filter cause i think it causes problems not exactly sure...guys at my work would know. yea u def dont want to add like a quart more if its really close to the full mark or it will cause some serious problems. seen a couple come in b.c they really over over filled and the car is smoking big time and some caught on fire...some how....not sure how....

ew.... Fram? Never use a fram oil filter unless its a ford.

3.7 Quarts 5W-20 (5W-30 is too heavy) Full Synthetic.

i run Royal Purple oil filter and oil in my car. Best decision I've ever made. And I've blown up 3 other hondas but this one is lasting me.

Thread hasn’t been touched in 15 years...

Royal Purple is not the reason your car is lasting. If you blew up three previously, it means you’re probably not maintaining them adequately.

A filter is a filter, they're made to meet or exceed the standards set by the OEM manufacturer.
And if you've blown up 3 different cars clearly the problem is somewhere between the driver's seat and the steering wheel.
