Cabin Filters
It just hit me the other day when I remembered I've never changed them.. i've had the car for 3 years now.. I guess it could be time to change them. Anyone know how much they are? I read from some people that they're around $10-$15 and some people said $50!

shouldnt be too expensive. Go to Honda and check it out.
Honda seems to have the cheapest prices around in my city. I am very happy with their pricing.

$50 cabin filters? maybe they meant the Air Intake Filter that is in engine bay or maybe a PAIR of cabin filters (but even$25 each is pricey)
I got a pair from a Napa parts store, Napa Gold brand for less than $20 including tax

Filters are easy to get from most chain auto stores like Strauss, pepboys, autozone. Just make sure you're picking out cabin air filters and not the intake filters

wow the cabin filters get super dirty after 5k miles. You should've been cleaning those alot more! just get a vacuum and suck out the dirt. Good as new.

I bought my Cabin filters here:
http://catalog.drivewire.com/drivewi...line/quote.jsp
I bought 4 of the the first filter on the list one on the list...
Part number-R2060-119788
Part Description-ACC Cabin Filter
List price-$14.37
Drivewire's price-$6.59
Yes they have several other cabin filters at varying costs. But for the price the cheapies are working fine for me. Better than paying $40 to $60 a pair at some Honda dealers. The OEM filters I pulled out, were from a local honda dealer (per the service records), and the ones I bought online, have the same info imbossed on the filter's package that the "OEM" filters had on their stickers. So the first owner paid $40 to have filters that retail for $13.12 installed.

you can also check the company that makes them. i know that at my dealership, they were trying to charge me $40 each, but www.micronair.com makes them, and it was about $20 shipped.
are these cabin filters you guys are talking about is the filter thats used for a/c and fan in the civic?
ive been using the same one for 20k+ miles now, but i rarely use it. i do remember seeing it sometime when i was hooking up my stereo. but is there any evidence or test proven filters that filter better than the OEM cabin filter?

I just got a pair of Bosch cabin filters for around $16 a few days ago. My car has been running with the original cabin filters for about 50k miles, and they were dirty as hell. Don't EVER have Honda change these filters for you. They tried to charge me $100 to change 2 filters that take less than 5 minutes to do. I hate them.

NOTE: LHD type is shown, RHD type is symmetrical.
The dust and pollen filters should be replaced every 48,000 km (30,000 miles) or 24 months whichever comes first. Replace the filters more often if the air flow is less than usual.
1.) Open the glove box.
2.) While holding the glove box (A), remove the glove box stop (B) on each side.
3.) Hang the glove box down.
4.) Remove the filter lid (A) from the blower unit, then pull out the first dust and pollen filter (B). Slide the second filter to the left and pull it out.
5.) Remove the filter (A) from the housing (B) and replace the filter.
6.) Install the filters in the reverse order of removal.

I just changed my cabin filters. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !
I got rid of that HORRIBLE mildew smell I got from the A/C.
Filters were dirty as hell... mind you I changed it for the first time at 80k.

just wondering, you know how the K&N air filter can be cleaned right? does that mean the cabin filter can be cleaned? or it has to be replaced?
btw, if the cabin filter can only be replaced, what's a good brand? OEM or aftermarket? i'm thinking about napa gold because i've read reports that even napa gold performed better than K&N air filter and napa gold also has cabin filters so i'm considering this....
any ideas?
thanks

you can vaccuum them up and they will be good as new as gearbox also said, oem is the best to go but aftermarket wont hurt, whatever brand you want to use is up to you

vacuuming them does not make them as good as new. it just removes all the big **** caught up in there. all the smaller dirt is caught in the material and will still plug up the filter element. Now I dont see a need to get all fancy with the cabin filter, any brand will work, its not like you are trying to gain power from it. its sole purpose is to reduce contaminants entering the vehicle through the AC.
