Help! I can't get this rod out!

I'm trying to replace my daughter's lock actuator! (Thanks to the forum I have figured out that is what is wrong) I found the amazing instructions and I have unhooked the clips and disconnected all of the rods except for the one that is attached to the door handle. I used a flat head screw drive and used the door frame as leverage, but I still can't get that dang thing to move. I'm afraid I'm going to break that metal hinge it is connected to. Anyone else have any ideas how to get it unhooked?
Thanks
~Suzee

i sprayed it with pb blaster lube and used pliars. for some reason that one gets stuck. if i remember correctly, that plastic is snapped in place and wont come out easy. you might try pushing it from the back side with pliars. over time the plastic becomes brittle and hard, so it doesnt pop out like it should.

Do you think WD40 would work the same? I have some of that!

Re: Help! I can't get this rod out!

it might, but wd40 is not really a penetrant or lubricant.

WD-40 will work fine. In a pinch pretty much any liquid will do. Try changing a tire by hand (and 2 giant pry bars) with degreaser in the middle of the desert. lol
