DDM Tuning HID kit sizing question

Guys

Has anyone ordered HID's from DDM Tuning for a 7th gen? I have them on my CBR and love them. I do not know the bulb type, HID Harness, Error Eliminator, or Adaptor cables needed for my civic. Hopefully someone has already gone through the pain of figuring this out. Also, does anyone know if the civic will be able to handle the 55w over the 35w ballasts?

Thanks in advance

Re: DDM Tuning HID kit sizing question

I have bought a DDM kit for my CBR and was so impressed, I have decided to exchange my PIAA bulbs for an HID kit. I know they are quality but I do not know the bulb sizes and other specifics when ordering the DDM kit for the 05 civic.

Re: DDM Tuning HID kit sizing question

The kit in the link is for your car..but i understand that is not the info you are looking for..

High beam.. H3 9005
low beam.. H4 9006
Fog lights. H8

When you buy a kit it should come with all the wiring you need..
I know there are a lot of threads about his and what size to get along with what watt to use...Search a little bit..if it doesn't work and i have more time i will find the info.

Re: DDM Tuning HID kit sizing question

Thanks for the info Gunner. That kit does look tempting but I have not heard anything about this company. The information I was actually looking for is the specifics for the site DDMtuning.com. It actually asks about a harness, error eliminator, and adapter cables. I have ordered this kit for my motorcycle and the kit didn't require anything extra and is outstanding in performance.

I know I need the following from any kit:
Bulb: low beam-9006/h4
watt: 35w
Color: 8000k

For the Civic, I do not know if there is a requirement to use an error eliminator or any other adapter for the system.

I ordered the DDM kit for my 05 civic. I got the 9006 5000k slim ballast kit. their site was a pain to navigate but they do have what you need. So far I have no problems with mine at all

I got a set from these guys for my sisters car. 2007 coupe

http://www.xsrezone.com/us/honda/hid-39-s/cat_470.html

Never had any issues with them. Was very easy to install. Didn't have any eliminator just a plug and play kit with blubs and ballasts.

That site has a chart to show you what bulb fits what car so it was very helpful. Have purchased several sets from them for other honda's as well now. The ones for my sister I did a few years back now and they are still working great. Went with 4300k temp its nice and white.

Hope that helps.

Did you have to get the error eliminator?

Re: DDM Tuning HID kit sizing question

Finally found the answer somewhere on the web. If ordering DDM Tuning, you only need to get the kit that includes the ballasts and bulbs. There is no need for the harness, error elliminator, or adapter cables.

I wil update with pictures when I get the kit installed. Thanks to everyone who helped me with this.

Re: DDM Tuning HID kit sizing question

What is an error eliminator? I think thats only for CAN systems like Mercedes that tells you when you have a headlight out. So you dont need that with our cars.

You dont NEED the harness, but its higly reccomended that you get it. SO i think it would be a wise investment.

What are adapter cables?

Re: DDM Tuning HID kit sizing question

The error eliminator has something to do with the amount of power the hid's pull. Apparently some models require a certain amount of power to be pulled or else it throws an error code. The eliminator eliminates the error. Techs may be able to explain it better.

From the website:
Use this relay harness to connect HIDs to cars with very small gauge wiring that cannot supply the initial surge current required to light the bulbs reliably. Symptoms indicating the harness is required would be intermittent starting or lights going out after being turned on for several minutes and requiring you to turn the lights off and back on for them to turn back on again. Recommended for all 55W HID installations but most American and European cars work at 35W/55W without the harness. The harness is definitely recommended for Quad';s and other ATVs or when running multiple HID installations. This harness is a fused relay isolation harness capable of supplying 20A at 12vdc. Not required when using High / Low kits.
The wire harness is for cars whose wires are not readily acceptable of the hid kit wires.

The adapter cables are needed on some D2R/S conversions when the factory power connector is not a 9006.

I put the 55w on my CBR and it had 18ga wiring I believe and its running just fine(this was after consulting other riders who bought the same kit). I would consider this small. Does the Civic have smaller ga wiring? I am only getting the 35w kit.

Just installed them the other day. Just as easy as putting them in the motorcycle except the bulbs a small amount of play in them.

What headlights do you have them installed in? And you got 35 watt right? I'm thinking of ordering the same kit but at 6000k. Post some pics up, I'd like to see how they look

They are my low beams for an 05 civic. I would not suggest hids for your high beams. I ordered mine from DDM Tuning. It took about 1-2 weeks to get them from China. They cost $55 with shipping to Northern Va. Below is what you will need.

35w Slim ballast kit
bulb type: 9006/HB4
Bulb color: 6000k (best brightness and color)

Harness: n/a
error eliminator: n/a
adapter cables: n/a

When installing do not cut any wires even if the instructions say to do so. Simply cut the shiny black rubber that the four wires pass through away from the wires and throw it away. Keep the mesh protected wires to use as an extension to give you more possibilities for mounting the ballasts. I mounted my ballasts by going through the wheel well and mounting to the side of the frame with zip ties and double sided tape. They get plenty of air circulation and are protected from water.

Any other questions just ask....

Re: DDM Tuning HID kit sizing question

When I said headlights I meant do you have stock or do you have an aftermarket brand like tyc. I have tyc so I believe my low beam is an H1 bulb if im not mistaken. Not 100% sure though. But thanks for the extra info Alann!

Sorry about the misunderstanding but I have the stock housings. Your current bulbs should have the type written on the back of the fitting.

Re: DDM Tuning HID kit sizing question

No my friend I haven't. And I ll tell you something about HID bulbs, Varieties of HID lamp include: Mercury-vapor lamps, Metal-halide (MH) lamps, Ceramic MH lamps, Sodium-vapor lamps, Xenon short-arc lamps. And I think 55W might fry your stock wiring. And for more information just Google it with such keywords: xenon hid kit, replacement hid bulbs etc.
